Sea expressway to speed up direct links

Among the key topics at the forum, the "three direct links" is a hot one. Some tangible results have already been achieved. Monday saw the signing of an agreement between the Mainland and Taiwan to open a sea expressway across the strait.

The sea expressway will use high-speed double-decker ferryboats that can carry 1200 passengers and 1000 tons of freight. It will take only 2 and a half to 3 hours to travel from Fuzhou to Taipei.

The service will be available by the end of this year, and will operate two to three times daily.
